Paliev for Xylophone and Piano Level: I Price: $13.95 Originator and systematizer of percussion studies in Bulgaria, Dr. Paliev is firmly established as a great percussion composer, active performer, clinician and well known educator throughout the world. This three volume set, serves as audition and concert material as well as a graduated system in which students can develop musicality and interaction with piano accompaniment. All volumes come with a play along tape of the accompaniment or computer disk with midi file, if requested. The midi file having the advantage of variable speed, to increase as the student becomes more comfortable. "Ladybird Dance" the first volume, is comprised of short pieces (two or three minutes each) which emphasizes short phrases, steady eight/quarter note rhythmic figures, ease of memorization and the occasional double stop. Approaching the end of this volume, sixteenth note passages become more prevalent with leaps of no more than a fifth in interval.
