Presto / Sonata in G Minor - J. S. Bach
Arranged by Errol Rackipov

Level: VI

Price: $10.95

This arrangement was inspired by Itzhack Perlman's performance. Special consideration is given to four mallet usage including a variety of dampening techniques. Innovative pedaling is introduced to accent the beauty of the vibraphone in the classical idiom.

(A pity vibraphone didn't exist in Bach's time).

Adagio Cantabile

The movement is presented in a two staff format in order to accentuate the separate voicing of the multiple melodies. Special care was given to find the most natural hand position. Specfic dampening and peddling techniques are utilized to enhance the beauty of this movement.

Allegro Fugue

This movement is among the most famous of all six sonatas and partitas for solo violin. Numerous arrangements have been made from this material but this is a first for solo vibraphone. For enhanced clarity, the voices and in sections, hand positions are spread between the two staffs. Creative pedaling and dampening has been used as well.

Andante Siciliano

The slow tempo of this movement gives the performer the opportunity to expose his unique sound by utilizing a variety of dampening and pedaling techniques.

Presto

This movement is quite popular and is written on one staff instead of two for ease of reading. The pedaling is designed to help create beautiful phrasing.
